DUBAI,- United Arab Emirates' (UAE) Education Minister Humaid Mohammed Al Qutami called on Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor here Monday night before she left for Kuala Lumpur after attending the '12th Asia Pacific Conference on Giftedness'.
Humaid is chairman of the conference hosted by the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguised Academic Performance.
Rosmah, wife of Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, had delivered a keynote address on 'Optimising the Potential of the Gifted and Talented' and led a dialogue session with parents of gifted children at the five-day event which ends tomorrow.
She told the Emirati minister during the courtesy visit of her hope that her contribution at the conference would further bring relations between Malaysia and the UAE closer.
"And let's not confine ourselves to talking about education alone because there are other things which we may work on together," said Rosmah, an avid proponent of the Malaysian programme for the gifted and talented.
She had been invited to participate in the conference based on her work with her PERMATA programme whose earliest initiative was the early childhood education and care project.
In conjunction with Rosmah's presence in Dubai, conference organisers had also invited a group of 70 Permata Seni (Jewels of the Arts) children to perform here.
In her keynote address, Rosmah indicated Malaysia's willingness to host the biennial Asia Pacific Conference on Giftedness in 2016. The 2014 edition is scheduled to take place in Shanghai, China.
