The two MB’s dilemma.

1. I was in Ipoh a few days before Raya and subsequently during and after Raya. I visited a few friends and relative during my short stay this time around. I am glad to say that those people that I met, still believes that what UMNO-BN did in Perak was wrong and no one seems to have any respect for him.
2. My sister first highlighted to me about Zambry pre- Maghrib Azan speech during the fasting where he is sending the subtle message that he is the Perak MB. This is probably the first time I am hearing such announcement. Maybe the Malaysian PM (Najib or Rosmah?) should follow what Zambry is doing. Imagine the real power behind the title PM, coming on air and said,” Saya…. After all she did it during Hari Raya!
3. It was reported today that Zambry had highlighted his sadness that a billboard carrying his Hari Raya wishes was vandalized and is disrespectful to the holy month of Ramadan. He said he was saddened by the incident as Ramadan is a month where people should purify their soul. Maybe this Zambry way of cleaning his soul once a year after dirtying it in the previous 11 months. I assume he will revert back to his old habits immediately within the first few days of Shawal.
4. Rightfully, Zambry pointed out that the month of Shawal is the month where people should seek for forgiveness and those seeking it should be forgiven. Unfortunately he fall short of asking for forgiveness for the role he played in the seizing the Perak leadership and for the hardship that he bring upon to Nizar and the PR exco’s. If anyone should ask for forgiveness it should be him. He owes it to the people of Perak but then I doubt people will forgive him. Personally, in my own opinion he is NOT the legitimate MB. He is the MB that was installed by the power brokers via the palace and lopsided court maneuvers. I will only accept his apology if he resigns and the DUN are dissolved.
5. For the past 2 days, I was in Terengganu visiting my extended family members. I always like to come back here. In fact, given an option I would like to live in Kuantan or in Besut. The open air, the hills, the beach and the simplicity and the warmth of the people has always been the center of attraction for me. This is paradise on earth. The only drawback would that I have to rely on the unstable dial up internet services.
6. Yesterday, I took to the streets of Jerteh as well as spending time in a coffee shop in Kampung Raja. Everywhere I go; it was never a dull moment when I poked on the issue of “Haji Deris” not being able to become the MB for the second term. Mohd Said is definitely not popular at all. There is a very strong view among the people on who should be the MB. In this place, UMNO is in turmoil. Unlike PR when UMNO fight among themselves, they do it behind the scene. The juicy bits do not come out in the MSM. I was trying to understand why Ideris Jusoh was not elected as MB.
7. The talk of town is that Ideris Jusoh was not elected because he is from Besut and historically Besut is part of Kelantan. The Terengganu Senior Royal family apparently does not like to have a Kelantanese to be MB in Terengganu. The verbal history that is passed down from one generations to the other has it that Besut became part of Terengganu after the Sultan of the two states places a bet over a cockfight and the Kelantan Sultan then lost. This led to Besut becoming part of Terengganu. Because of this, anyone from Besut would be considered as second choice in becoming the MB.
8. Apparently, prior to being appointed to his first term, there was also difficulty on the part of the Terengganu Royal Family to accept Haji Deris. It took several days of political haggling among the power brokers but eventually Haji Deris became the MB because UMNO was united. Apparently, Ideris Jusoh was not the first victim. In the 80’s, Dato Dollah from Kg. Jabi who was passed over because he was from Besut as well. It seems that Ahmad Said is not popular in most part of Terengganu and in particular in Besut.
9. I could see many of Ideris Jusoh landmarks in Besut. I would say his biggest contribution would not only be in the construction and infrastructure upgrade in Terengganu but in the field of education. I had always admired the Terengganu Government towards education among the people. We can see for the past 8 years or so, children from Terengganu schools have bagged so many awards at UPSR, PMR and SPM levels.
10. This time around, as part of a long term plan that was mooted 3 years ago , plan was put in place by the Terengganu State Government to ensure the children here receives decent education in IT. This year all Year 5 students received their E-book which is fully sponsored by the State government. I was impressed with the hardware and software that was given. It seems that the all the Year 5 students no longer carry textbook to school. This is the work of Haji Deris
11. I had always compare my children school (which is labeled as smart school) to schools in Kg. Raja and I had always says that the level of commitment among the teachers in my children school is much lower to those in the Kampong schools. A huge sum of PIBG funds is being used to compensate teachers in my children schools but the returns are very low if we were to use the UPSR result as a yardstick.
12. My children school is a smart school where every child supposes to use computers in their daily learning but after 10 years, the children in KL are still carrying heavy text book. In Terengganu, the children carry only E-book. MOE and all the smart schools in Malaysia should be ashamed.
13. As for the two MB’s both are not wanted by the people. One is appointed by the BN friendly palace and reinforced by the biased court and the other is appointed by the BN unfriendly palace. Awkward, isn’t it, especially in a country where democracy is supposed to be way to govern.

Lone Ranger Hasan Ali Must Stop Shooting From The Hip

I wrote this statement a couple of days ago but decided on holding it back first to see how things pan out. But well, looks like it has been overtaken by events, with even Dr Hasan's fellow PAS colleagues coming out to criticise his outburst against SELCAT. So I'll just put it up on the blog here instead.

Dr Hasan Ali must decide if he is part of the governing Pakatan Rakyat coalition or a lone-ranger who shoots from the hip

Selangor state executive councillor, Dr Hasan Ali has once again decided to stir controversy by hitting out at the Selangor Competency, Accountability and Transparency (SELCAT) committee investigations into the allocation of constituency funds by both former and current Selangor state assemblymen.

The SELCAT investigations has to date revealed extensive irregularities and wrongdoings by various parties including the former Barisan Nasional assemblymen with the complicity of many of the DOs. It was also responsible for the revelations on the Balkis scandal when the state government-linked companies officers were questioned.

He has criticised the transparent and open manner of SELCAT investigations led by the state speaker, Teng Chang Khim, especially with regards to the questioning of the state district officers (DOs). Dr Hasan Ali has further suggested that these investigations be conducted behind closed doors by former judges and other “independent” personalities.

Dr Hasan Ali must be reminded that his proposed closed door investigations runs completely contrary to the key principles upheld by SELCAT and the Pakatan Rakyat government, that is of “Accountability” and “Transparency”. If the DOs or any other civil servants have not done anything wrong or against the law, there will be nothing to be ashamed of. Dr Hasan Ali's argument for “independent” personalities also does not make sense, for the Selangor state assembly has been elected by the people to ensure a competent, accountable and transparent government, and that responsibility must never be abdicated by the assembly.

More importantly however, without going into the merits of the Dr Hasan Ali's arguments, the bigger question is, why is he once again taking unilateral actions to criticise the Pakatan Rakyat admistration without any prior consultation with either the State Executive Council (EXCO) or the state Pakatan Rakyat secretariat of which he is a member?

Dr Hasan Ali certainly has his right to his views but would it not be better if they were raised in these consultative meetings first in order for a common decision to be made for the betterment of the state? This is not the first time he has completely ignored the EXCO and the PR secretariat before making highly controversial and questionable announcements, such as seeking the removal of a fellow Exco member, the confiscation of beer and the empowerment of mosque committee members to make arrests all within the past 3 months.

What is most hypocritical is the fact that Dr Hasan Ali did not utter a single word of objection when the issue of constituency fund allocation investigations was raised in a PR secretariat meeting which was held before the commencement of the SELCAT investigations! And now he has to act like the “hero” fighting for the rights of the “maligned” DOs.

Dr Hasan Ali must start behaving like he is part of the Pakatan Rakyat coalition, especially since he insisted that he is committed to the coalition after the earlier controversies. The method of strengthening Pakatan is via consultative decision-making, and not via every EXCO member shooting from the hip as and when they feel like it. If however, Dr Hasan Ali so feels that he is for one reason or another, unable to consult and discuss with the EXCO and his coalition partners, then perhaps in the interest of Pakatan Rakyat, it is best that he gives way to another leader who can from his party.

Mahathir Mohamad

Calon Bagan Pinang : Jantankah Khairy Jamaludin

Malaysia rated 47th least corrupt, Penang praised..!!! So What..????

By Lee Wei Lian

GEORGE TOWN, Sept 24 – Global corruption watchdog, Transparency International (TI), has ranked Malaysia as the 47th least corrupt nation in the world and commended the island state of Penang for its anti-corruption efforts.

Denmark, New Zealand and Sweden was listed by TI as the top three least corrupt countries as measured by the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), which ranks countries in terms of the degree to which businessmen and country analysts perceive corruption to exist among public officials and politicians.

Singapore, Finland, Switzerland, Iceland, Netherlands, Australia and Canada rounded off the top top least corrupt countries.

Malaysia came in 47th out of 180 countries in the index, tied with Hungary and Jordan.

The CPI is part of TI’s Global Corruption Report (GCR) 2009 released yesterday.

In its report on Malaysia, TI highlighted the Malaysian practice of the “revolving door” whereby individuals move from government to business, or business to politics, and back again, and estimated that corruption could cost Malaysia as much as RM10 billion a year.

“Significant government participation in the private sector and considerable business participation in politics means that the movement of gatekeepers to players and players to gatekeepers has a negative influence on the concept of checks and balances,” said TI.

“The complexity of the relationships between politics and the public and private sectors means that corruption may take place with impunity. Until drastic action is taken to separate the cosy relationship between government, business and politics, the anti-corruption effort will remain no more than a token gesture,” said TI.

Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng says he is “humbled” by the recognition by TI and added that he was concerned over the fact that that corruption could cost Malaysia as much as RM10 billion a year – an amount equivalent to 1 or 2 per cent of GDP as pointed out by the GCR when it cited the findings of the special government business facilitation task force Pemudah and the World Bank.

Additional report contents that were of concern to Lim was Malaysia’s per capita spending of only RM5 on anti-corruption efforts and the fact that only about 10 per cent, or just 7,223 potential corruption cases, of the total 71,558 reported between 2000 and 2006 were investigated by the Anti Corruption Agency, the precursor of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, with a conviction rate of less than one percent.

“The GCR 2009 concluded that this illustration of the Malaysian government’s inaction in the light of the serious corruption allegations, along with its seeming inability to catch the big fish instead focusing on the ‘small fry’, suggests that what anti-corruption efforts exist are mere tokens,” said Lim.

“RM 10 billion in losses from corruption per year is a huge sum and there must be greater commitment from the Federal government towards fighting corruption to ensure that 27 million Malaysians can benefit from this RM 10 billion dividend from successfully combating corruption.”

Lim also today announced that the state has managed to cut about RM36 million or 12 per cent of in operating expenditure this year due to its efforts to curb corruption.

“Transparency International’s recognition of anti-corruption efforts by the Penang state government through CAT (Competency Accountability And Transparency) governance is backed up by savings of nearly 12 per cent of the 2008 Penang state budget of RM 36 million from operating expenditure. This RM 36 million savings has allowed the state government to carry out social programs and implement its people-oriented government,” said Lim.

TI said that the Penang state is the first Malaysian state government to implement the open tender system for government procurement and contracts.

It also recognised the state government’s directive barring administrators and state executive councillors from making any new land applications and efforts to attract professionals to serve on various boards, such as the Penang State Appeals Board.

“On behalf of the Penang state government, we feel humbled by the recognition given by a world renowned body such as Transparency International and would redouble efforts to ensure the anti-corruption reforms are institutionalized and ensure more professionals are appointed to key bodies. Fighting corruption generates savings for the people,” said Lim.

He added that the two local authorities in Penang are expected to save another RM34 million over three years from a “transparent” negotiation over the price of solid waste disposal that reduced the rates agreed to by the previous Barisan Nasional administration by a further 42.4 per cent.

Lim said that the savings would go towards the state government’s “3E” programme to “enable” the people w

THREE days into the Permatang Pasir by-elections I wrote and complained that it was getting to be a bit of a yawning drag. But the fourth day was like a prayer answered. There bloomed the Rohaizat issue.

However, even before we start on this next mother-of-all-by-elections, we already have a clown performing on a tight rope. The tight-rope walker is none other than the shit-stirrer Hassan Ali. Besides an uphill against Postal Votes, PAS cannot afford to sacrifice the Indian and Chinese votes. Hassan Ali created a near havoc immediately after the March GE. If not from an UMNO insider, we would not have known that he was in cohort with Toyo to engineer a PAS cross-over to UMNO. Had it not been for the fortitude of PAS MPs and Aduns in Selangor who honored the PR pact, we would have seen Hassan Ali as Menteri Besar of Selangor.

And yet the PAS leadership did not do the right thing.

He stirred some more shit when he went head-on with Selangor PR over the sale of Beer by 7Eleven outlets in Shah Alam. When he was cautioned by the MB he layed off into his snake-pit to hatch another scheme.

And yet the PAS leadership did not do the right thing.

Who would ever believe that Hassan Ali was not in league with UMNO in the cow-head episode that made a universal capital fool of the Home Minister. His finger-prints were all over the place and those finger-prints were lifted at the fracas in the Section 23 residents meeting, I was reliably informed.

And yet the PAS leadership did not do the right thing.

This shadowy figure emerged again, when he called for the ban of beer in all Pakatan States. The Sultan of Selangor took exception!

And yet the PAS leadership did not do the right thing.

After the Sultan rapped his knuckles, he must have consulted UMNO, and he now goes after SELCAT, the formation of which he was part of. PAS, and PR MPs and Aduns have rapped him

And yet the PAS leadership did not do the right thing.

Battles have been LOST because of one Benedict Arnold aka TRAITOR !

Will the PAS leadership do the RIGHT thing NOW?

However YB Salahudin Ayub and YB Dzulkifly Ahmad will still get my support, because these are good men we must hold on to.

Kartika tells govt, NGOs to butt out

By Debra Chong
KUALA KANGSAR, Sept 24 – It has been three months since she was sentenced to six strokes of the rotan and a RM5,000 fine for drinking beer in a Pahang nightclub.
And now. Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno, the Muslim mother of two whose sentence made headlines all over the world, hopes the authorities will just get on with the whipping which had been put off till after the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
Her lawyer had written recently to the Pahang Syariah High Court in Kuantan, asking for the date when the whipping is to be carried out but have yet to receive a reply, reporters were told today.
Lawyer Adham Jamalullail Ibrahim, who was also present at an impromptu press conference here today, appealed to the various parties that had been making public statements over Kartika's case to stop interfering in her personal life.
The lawyer included in his list of “meddlers” the federal government and non-governmental organisation, Sisters in Islam (SIS), which had recently filed for a judicial review against Kartika's sentence.
He pointed out that Kartika had repeatedly and clearly stated she would not appeal against her sentence and asked the parties to respect his client's decision.
He added that they may take legal action against these parties for trying to force his client to do something against her wishes.
“We may sue Sisters in Islam for damages,” the lawyer said, adding that Kartika had not given her permission to them to act on her behalf.
Adham, who is an Ipoh-based Syariah lawyer, had recently taken over Kartika's case from the previous lawyer appointed by the Kuantan Syariah High Court to act for her during the trial.
He told reporters he had also applied to the court on Sept 16 to be included in any legal action involving Kartika, and asked for a copy of the court papers to find out what had taken place during the trial itself as the trial lawyer could not be contacted.
Speaking to reporters today at her family's Aidilfitri open house party at camp Lang Buana, a scenic homestay camp owned by her father near here, Kartika said this year's celebration has been no less enjoyable.
It overlooks the Perak river in Karai, somewhere in between the road from here to Sungai Siput.
“I just wants to get on with my life”, she said, reaching for her younger child who had ambled out from back verandah.
But until the sentence is executed, she is unable to move forward, Kartika related, aided by her father and elder sister who hovered at her elbows.
The 32-year-old  was previously reported to have voiced plans to further her studies. But asked today about her plans for after the caning, Kartika dressed in a demure olive green head scarf and floral baju kurung only smiled.
Elder sister Ratna Seri Dewi, 34, swooped in to her rescue, telling reporters that Kartika was unable to make plans when her future was murky – she could not even say when she could return to Singapore, where her husband works and her two children, a boy and a girl aged seven and five respectively, go to school.
The petite lady with the big smile said she had been preparing for the whipping ever since receiving the verdict from the Pahang Syariah High Court in Kuantan last July.
“I pray,” she answered in a soft voice, her big eyes framed by spectacles cast downwards when asked how she has been “preparing” for the punishment.
Ratna jumped in to elaborate, saying her sister has been performing extra prayers, mostly at night, in addition to the compulsory five times daily prayers required by Islam.
The lush green surroundings have also helped her calm and focus her mind, which had been under stress from the sudden international spotlight over her case, Kartika added.
The controversy over her sentence has drawn the world's attention on Malaysia’s dual-track justice system which provides for separate and additional punishment for Muslims under Syariah laws.
Asked if she thinks the sentence meted out was fair, she paused, drew in a deep breath and said: “I can't say.”

DAP bantah, dakwa Dr Hasan hipokrit

BN partners should never fear ‘big brother’ Umno

OPINION In a recent interview with Malaysiakini, suspended Deputy MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek brought up an interesting point – how he will handle Umno if he were the leader of the MCA.
“There is more than one way to skin a cat. Similarly, there is more than one way for MCA to deal with Umno”, Chua said philosophically.
According to him, MCA president Ong Tee Keat prefers a more confrontational approach when dealing with Umno, the ‘big brother’ of Barisan Nasional.
bill-clinton-monica-lewinsky.jpgChua stressed his emphasis was towards garnering support for BN because that is the common platform which MCA candidates stand on during elections.
For the coalition to thrive, MCA must then forge strong ties within the BN coalition, including Umno, said Chua.
By now, most of us know what is going on in the MCA.
Sex scandal difficult to erase
The ‘Triple 10’ (10am on the 10th day of the 10th month) extraordinary general meeting will be a ‘winner takes all’ battle for either Ong or Chua. Both had declared that it would be the end of their political career should they not survive the vote.
It has been speculated that Chua is unhappy at being sidelined by the party while Ong must have felt it improper to put up a person tainted by immoral behaviour for public office.

Indeed, Chua’s ‘porn star’ tag is something that is unlikely to go away, ever.
vijandran.jpgPeople still remember DP Vijandran’s sex videos even when the incident happened some 20 years ago. And Malaysians will not forget Bill Clinton’s indiscretion with Monica Lewinsky even though that has nothing to do with us. But Chua did better than Clinton. He was brave enough to own up immediately while Clinton lied through his teeth until he was cornered.
But what Chua brought up - the way to handle Umno - is a subject worth a further look at.
Looking at the current crop of presidents of BN component parties, I can safely conclude that MIC supremo Samy Vellu and MCA president Ong Tee Keat would be able to stand as tall as and be at par with Najib Abdul Razak, the prime minister and Umno president. I’m afraid I cannot say that of Gerakan’s Dr Koh Tsu Koon though. (Pity Dr Lim Keng Yaik is no longer at Gerakan's helm. I doubt anyone in Umno had dared to bully Keng Yaik in the past.)

umno-bn-leader.pngWhy? Samy was already a senior Cabinet member when Najib was just a ‘baby minister’. Say what you like about Samy. He has the guts to stand up to Umno, ‘big brother’ or not! Najib would have a lot of quiet respect for the veteran MIC president too.
Ong Tee Keat’s no-nonsense approach is one that would stand out in his dealings with other BN partners, Umno included.
Chua is probably right. There are many ways to build a relationship with Umno leaders. How he is different from Ong here is that the MCA president is considered a very tough nut to crack and is unlikely to budge once he has made up his mind on something.
It is perhaps true what Chua said about him being gung-ho in his language with Umno leaders. Then, it could also be true that Ong knows too well how Umno will treat him if he is seen as a weak, vulnerable personality. So he has to be tough and act tough, even with ‘big brother’ Umno.
When MCA was bullied
Let me relate two incidents which reached my ears over how Umno had treated its Number Two partner, the MCA in years gone by. They could be true or unreal but I have no reason to think that they were made-up stories.
Many years ago, I was quite friendly with a deputy Umno minister. The good man had since passed on.
He was a confidante of then Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad. And we all know how revered (and feared) Mahathir was when he was in office.
In one of our night caps in his house many years ago, my friend talked about how MCA could easily be bullied by Umno.
“Whenever we wanted to call up MCA leaders, they would come crawling to us at any time,” he had sniggered, as if to indicate how subservient the MCA leaders were. Well, we know who the MCA president was at that time.
lim-ah-lek.jpgling liong sik.jpgThen recently, I heard this story about the Team A-Team B tussle in the MCA in the early 2000’s.
Towards reaching a resolution in 2003, Dr Mahathir called Dr Ling Liong Sik and Lim Ah Lek into his office.
With the two men in front of him, Mahathir just pointed at them and asked that both of them stepped down as MCA president and deputy president. The story went that Ling and Lim just nodded.
Then Mahathir asked whom they wanted as their replacements. Ling said “Ong Ka Ting” and Lim mentioned “Chan Kong Choy”.
So Ka Ting and Kong Choy as the new president and deputy president it will be.
Next, Mahathir called Ka Ting and Kong Choy to his office. Pointing at Ong, he said “you will be the new MCA president”. At Chan, he ordered, “you will be the new deputy president”.
When this was related to me, I was not totally surprised. This was how powerful Mahathir and Umno were. They could easily made mincemeat of MCA.
It might not have happened exactly the way it was related, but I believe it was along similar fashion.
Feel safer with Ong's approach
But to be fair to Mahathir, he was probably fed-up of the long-running tussle in the MCA then and had wanted to close the chapter quickly.
Umno had changed its leadership since then. So have many of the BN component parties. I suppose different leaders have their own ways of doing things. But I have to say, “just don’t bully your smaller ‘siblings’".
Leaders of the smaller BN component parties, including those from Sabah and Sarawak, should just respect but never fear Umno or their leaders. Umno will not dare act as the ‘big brother’ if they know that others are not easily cowed by them.
And honestly, between Ong Tee Keat and Chua Soi Lek, I think I will feel safer with Ong’s no-nonsense approach with Umno if I were a MCA member.
But then I’m not. So if there are MCA leaders or members who choose to remain subservient to Umno, I say ‘good luck’ to them. Perhaps I should add ‘good riddance’ too!

I am God, said the Pharaoh

The more than 26 million Malaysians are paying the 798 Malaysians, employed as servants of the people during the elections, to do a job. Their job and the salary that comes with it comes from the people. The people are digging into their pockets to pay these 798 elected Malaysians their salaries.

Sultan Pahang mahu rakyat terus sokong kerajaan Barisan Nasional
Turut hadir Menteri Besar Pahang Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob, Timbalan Menteri Pengajian Tinggi Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, Anggota Parlimen Kuala Krau Datuk Ismail Mohamad Said, Anggota Dewan Undangan Negeri Jenderak Datuk Mohamad Jaafar dan Pegawai Daerah Temerloh Datuk Dr Salehudin Ishak.
- BERNAMA
I am God, said the Pharaoh.
You are not God, replied Moses.
And why do you say I not God? asked the Pharaoh.
Because God can give life and God can take life, was Moses’s reply.
Okay, I now sentence you to death, said the Pharaoh.
But before the palace guards could drag Moses away and cut off his head, the Pharaoh added, and now I withdraw the death sentence.
So you see, said the Pharaoh, I have just taken your life and then I gave you back your life. So, since I can give life and I can take life, that means I am God.
Barisan Nasional is the ruling party, says Umno. Barisan Nasional brings development to the people. Barisan Nasional builds roads, schools, hospitals and whatnot. So the people must be grateful to Barisan Nasional. And, to demonstrate this gratitude, the people must vote for Barisan Nasional.
Barisan Nasional is just like the Pharaoh. The Pharaoh used warped logic. Barisan Nasional also uses warped logic. So Barisan Nasional has the same mind as the Pharaoh. And all those people beholden to Barisan Nasional for whatever reason, the Rulers included, who also argue that the people must support Barisan Nasional because of the development that Barisan Nasional brings, also have the mind of the Pharaoh.
Barisan Nasional does not bring development to the people, just like the Pharaoh was not able to give life. It is the people who bring development to the people. And the people bring development by paying taxes and by voting in a government to manage their tax money.
If the people refuse to pay taxes and if the people refuse to vote Barisan Nasional into office then not only will Barisan Nasional not have any money to develop the county but Barisan Nasional will also not have the power to develop the country, even if it had the money, because only the government in office can develop the country, assuming, in the first place, the people give them the money to be able to do so.
The system works like this. The people give the government money. Then the people go to the polling station to give the mandate to 222 Malaysians at federal level and another 576 Malaysians at state level to manage the people’s money. That is a total of 798 Malaysians out of more than 26 million Malaysians being given the mandate to manage the people’s money.
So these 798 Malaysians have to be grateful to the more than 26 million Malaysians. The more than 26 million Malaysians do not have to be grateful to the 798 Malaysians elected into office.
The more than 26 million Malaysians are paying the 798 Malaysians, employed as servants of the people during the elections, to do a job. Their job and the salary that comes with it comes from the people. The people are digging into their pockets to pay these 798 elected Malaysians their salaries.
The more than 26 million Malaysians are also paying for the development of the country. The more than 26 million Malaysians pay taxes to the government, which the government then uses to build roads, schools, hospitals and whatnot.
Every year, around November, the government presents its budget in Parliament for the approval of 222 elected Malaysians. These 222 elected Malaysians will have to look at the budget and on behalf of more than 26 million Malaysians tell Parliament whether this is what the people who paid that money really want. If it is not what the more than 26 million Malaysians want then the budget has to be rejected and redone to the people’s satisfaction.
If the 222 elected Malaysians do not look carefully into the budget and into how the people’s money is being spent then the more than 26 Malaysians will have to sack these 222 elected Malaysians. And this will be done during the elections every five years when the 798 elected Malaysians at federal and state levels have to go back to the people and beg the more than 26 million Malaysians to employ them for another five years with a salary attached.
That is how the system works. And let no one, even if he may be the Ruler of the land, tell you otherwise. The Pharaoh also tried to be funny. He thought he was God. And the Pharaoh was a most powerful man indeed who was matched by no one, not even the greatest dictator in history. But God smite the Pharaoh down. And the more than 26 million Malaysians are not Gods but they too have the power to smite down the 798 elected Malaysians who have the mind of the Pharaoh and expect us to be grateful to them for doing the job they are being paid to do and using our money to do it on top of that.
The Sultans had better be very careful. They are not as powerful as the Pharaoh. Heck, they are not even as powerful as the 798 elected Malaysians whom the people voted into office. The people do not want to show gratitude to Barisan Nasional. The people do not need to show gratitude to Barisan Nasional. Barisan Nasional should instead be grateful to the people. Heck, even the Sultans should be grateful to the people. Without the people’s money they would be eating sand (makan pasir, the Malays would say). And the day the people stop paying their taxes and stop voting for Barisan Nasional will be the day that those who think they are in power will realise that the people are more powerful, more powerful than even the Pharaoh and all those Malaysians who have the mind of the Pharaoh.
P.S. To Muslims, being called the Pharaoh is the greatest insult. So I urge Malaysia Today’s readers to NOT call our elected leaders, and unelected leaders like the Sultans, Pharaoh. They would get extremely upset.

BERNAMA

Naikkan gaji demi majukan ekonomi - Kata Tok Dalang UMNO@BN...!! makin terserlah kuasa dia ni jadi PM 1 Malaya..???

Kisah pedang polis, tentera

"Kita beli kerana nama syarikat asing.

Turut hadir Menteri Besar Pahang Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob, Timbalan Menteri Pengajian Tinggi Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, Anggota Parlimen Kuala Krau Datuk Ismail Mohamad Said, Anggota Dewan Undangan Negeri Jenderak Datuk Mohamad Jaafar dan Pegawai Daerah Temerloh Datuk Dr Salehudin Ishak.
BERNAMA

Orang PAS jadi MB Negeri Sembilan?

Memang aku tak nafikan kemungkinan tu memang ada orang PAS akan jadi MB, tapi tak payah la sebut pasai kebarangkalian tu kecik sangat, mungkin lebih 1/1000. Tak payah la nak buat imej PAS buruk sangat. Bila baca artikel Malaysian Insider ni terus mai kat kepala aku yang penulis ni saja nak bagi nampak PAS ni tamak sangat. Berlagak sangat. Aku harap pemulis tu tak berniat macam tu.

Tak payah la mengarut sampai fikir bab kerusi Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan.

Ataupun memang orang PAS Negeri Sembilan ada cita-cita nak pegang kerusi Menteri Besar? Kalau la ada jenih yang tak sedar diri macam tu, aku nak nasihatkan, lupakan lah. Tak payah la penat-penat kepala otak fikir benda yang jauh macam tu. Terlajak jauh sangat dah tu.

Banyak lagi benda yang kat depan mata yang kena fikir. Takkan baru menang satu kerusi dah nak angan-angan nak pegang kerusi MB.

WE are hardly out (albeit Zeti says we are) of the economic gloom and on the eve of the Bagan Pinang by-elections the PM unveiled grand plans of our own F1 team. Even the Singapore F1 show has seen a drastic trimming down of spendings by corporate sponsors and we are pumping millions into the Malaysian F1 dream team. Has the PM gone NUTS? (as in areca nut aka pinang) Areca nuts are chewed with betel leaf for their effects as a mild stimulant, causing a mild hot sensation in the body and slightly heightened alertness, although the effects vary from person to person.

The F1 money should be used for the rakyat of Bagan Pinang and Seremban. For 5 decades of rule they have done little. They have sidelined Bagan Pinang where the infrastructure is wanting. Buses ply the town, but getting out of the village to come into PD town can be a shore. And who lives outside PD? We are not asking for an F1 t4ack to be home for our dream team. State Government

Thank you Selangor for taking steps the Federal Government should have taken. Maternity leave is now 90 days and the health of senior citizens is being looked after:
Female civil servants with the Selangor Government are now entitled to 90 days maternity leave starting this year. Announcing this yesterday, Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said the extra days of leave was part of the state’s economic welfare programme.

“Husbands whose wives gave birth will also enjoy a 14-day paternity leave, up from a week previously. Female staff whose husbands pass away, will also get 30 days’ leave, compared to three days emergency leave in the past,” he told reporters after presenting appointment letters to more than 6,000 village committee members here yesterday.

The Pakatan Rakyat state government had proposed the extra days after it came into power last year.

On another matter, Khalid said Selangor was meeting with various groups, including insurance companies, to work out a plan to help the 300,000 to 400,000 senior citizens in the state to cope with their medical expenses.

Under the programme, senior citizens might only need to pay a maximum of RM5 each time they received treatment from a clinic, he said, adding that the elderly must, however, be registered with the state government.

PPSB: Guan Eng rujuk data salah

BERNAMA

Who's going to pay for Najib's F1 dream?

'If the nation's coffer is overflowing, please give some to the poor especially the Penans and other fellow rakyat who live in the interior.'

Ex-PM backs Najib's F1 dream

Watcher: Before we conclude whether this is a good or bad idea, let's hear out the prime minister on how this big project is to be financed and by who. Gentlemen, no taxpayer's money again, please.

If the nation's coffer is overflowing, please give some to the poor especially the Penans and other fellow rakyat who live in the interior.

Michael: Malaysia's government should buy over (Formula One regulation body) FIA from Bernie Ecclestone instead of participating in F1 as a team. We can then change its name to 'Formula 1 Malaysia '. This will enable our country to get the cheapest publicity worldwide, throughout the entire year, and not confined to the few racing hours .

We can also decide on the venue of F1 races, and perhaps remove Singapore from the F1 calendar. Billions of ringgit in funding should not be a problem during the recession as our government can always issue 'Formula 1 Malaysia ' unit trusts or perhaps Petronas could step in in helping our nation achieving 'our' dream.

Proton will be allowed to race, but of course with the technology and engine supplied perhaps by Porsche to increase the chances of taking the chequered flag. Also in conjunction with the '1Malaysia' concept, we should have four local drivers in F1: one Malay, one Chinese, one Indian, and one 'lain-lain' to reflect the peaceful racial integration in our country.

We love 'Formula 1 Malaysia'.

Suburkan budaya tegur-menegur.... Hapuskan budaya ugut-mengugut....!!!
