Just who is a traitor?

Ground reports cobbled together by Umno suggest that the Malay political party is facing a crisis of sorts: a sizeable number of Malays no longer identify the party as defenders of Malay interest.

Worse yet, there is a growing perception that Umno has not been able to stanch the tide of demands from the non-Malays since Election 2008.

Hawks in Umno believe that if allowed to take root, the political party’s one last reliable supportbase could be an Achilles Heel in 2013 when the next general elections are scheduled. (Note: Umno’s share of votes in 2008 among Malays was largely intact despite the unprecedented showing by the Opposition).

So strategists have advised Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and other Umno leaders that they need to adopt three approaches: attack Opposition icon Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as a politician who is willing to sell out the Malays to gain political power, a modern-day traitor; hammer Parti Islam SeMalaysia (PAS) as a stooge of the mainly Chinese Democratic Action Party (DAP); and finally to show Umno as uncompromising defenders of race and religion.

Of the three approaches, Umno leaders appear to be relishing the chance of rubbishing Anwar as a traitor, alleging that he is more interested in defending the rights of Chinese and demonising him as someone who will barter away the special privileges of the Malays for the support of Indians and Chinese.

The curious thing about using the “traitor” card is that it is a double-edged weapon. Here is a fact: if we go by the common definition of the word traitor, many Malaysian politicians will be considered traitors.

After all, a traitor is someone who betrays his country, a cause, a trust, even a set of principles.

Is Anwar more of a “traitor’’ than:

Muhyiddin Yassin.

— Is the Deputy Prime Minister a traitor to the 1 Malaysia cause introduced by his political boss and adopted by the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition because he chooses to encourage incendiary rhetoric and plays to the Malay gallery?

— Is the Deputy Prime Minister a traitor to his race by flip-flopping on the policy of teaching Mathematics and Science in English?

Khairy Jamaluddin.

— Is the Umno Youth leader a traitor for betraying the trust of Malaysians who expect young and better-educated politicians not to get involved in the unsavoury world of money politics?

— Is the Umno Youth leader, who promised to speak for all Malaysians, a traitor to the cause of building a better and more competitive Malaysia, a traitor because he choose political advancement over principles?

Najib Razak

— Is the Prime Minister (PM) a traitor to the Malay cause because he is liberalising the economy and opening up more sectors to foreign ownership?

— Is the PM a traitor because he is openly courting the United States and Singapore, two countries which many Umno members pigeonhole as unfriendly.

Umno politicians.

— Are senior Umno politicians traitors to their race because they accept largesse from Chinese businessmen in the form of monthly stipends, all expenses paid holidays, and commissions as quid pro quo for granting the Chinese businessmen permits and contracts?

BN leaders.

— Is a BN component party leader a traitor when he remains silent in a meeting and does not defend his race and religion from chauvinists?

Nik Aziz Nik Mat and PAS leaders.

— Is Nik Aziz Nik Mat a traitor to his race and religion because he allows non-Muslims to build their places of worship without impediments?

Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng.

— Are the Lims traitors to the vision of a Malaysian Malaysia because they have not done enough to make their political party representative of all the major races in the country?

The list of “traitors’’ in Malaysia can go on and on. For it is a fact that the political landscape here is littered with individuals who have strayed from their ideals, principles and values. The sad truth is that we call many of them our leaders.

MUHYIDDIN COBA SOROK BUSUKNYA BANGKAI RASUAH..!!! ORANG JOHOR TAHU BENAR CERITANYA..!!!

Salleh Man Yakin Pertahan Kerusi Permatang Pasir.!

-TVA

AKHBAR MALAYSIA PERLU BERUBAH

Kedua, rakyat Malaysia masih membaca akhbar-akhbar tempatan.

Ong vs Tiong - full-scale inquiry needed..!!!!

'It is the responsibility of the PM to call for a full-scale inquiry. He should order both men to step aside, pending the outcome of such an investigation.'

On EXPOSED: 'RM10 mil for MCA boss'

Lee Mun-Kit:
This definitely calls for the MACC to initiate a full-scale investigation into the actions of both Transport Minister Ong Tee Keat and Bintulu MP Tiong King Sing. If the MACC does not take prompt action, the AG should demand the police to initiate a full-scale investigation. And both gentlemen, if they are honourable, would have to step aside pending this investigation. This is serious as the two parties had accused one another of wrongdoing.

It is the responsibility of the prime minister to call for a full-scale inquiry. Otherwise the PM himself is implicated as condoning in any wrongdoing by either member of his government when it is finally established. He should order both men to step aside immediately, pending the outcome of such an investigation. The question begging to be answered is - has corruption become so rampant that RM10 million is of no consequence anymore?

Truth: For the sake of BN, both OTK (Ong Tee Keat) and TKS (Tiong King Sing) should resign from their respective posts. PM is trying to instil confidence and win back the hearts of the rakyat but these two YBs certainly not helping and making it worse by the day. Like what the PM said the other day - BN lost not because opposition is strong but because BN is weak due to internal squabbles, fights, sabotage, etc.

I agree that MACC should investigate Tiong's allegation. If true, where did the money go? MCA disciplinary committee should also haul up its president on both allegations, ie, the receipt of RM10 million and the use of private jet. It's a potential conflict of interest on the minister's part. OTK should subject himself to the same rules and standards which he imposes on others.

Alexander Yuan: Here we go again... I don't see them do anything on the RM10 million donation to OTK. Or that RM24 million mansion by a certain former MB of Selangor? MACC a model of ICAC? More like the ACA of Zimbabwe to me.

Vincent Ong: MACC, please act, don't wait. What are you waiting for? Are you waiting for instruction(s)? From whom? I always thought you are independent as you all have studied how ICAC of Hong Kong functions. You will be a laughing stock to the Malaysian public.

Chee Hoe Siew: MACC to probe PKFZ? Where can MACC find time to do such trivial thing? The amount is only a matter of RM10 million, which is such a small sum compare to those from the Selangor state government, which is at a huge sum of RM2,000 or so.

Kevin: It is sickening how the MACC acts with lightning speed on the faintest suspicion of any opposition politician but is deaf and dumb to scandalous public revelation of BN politicians. The allegations against Selangor exco Ronnie Liu are based on an anonymous poison-pen website which has been thoroughly debunked. So what is the rationale for arresting (Liu's aide) Wong (Chuan How)? Don't they have any bigger fish to go after like the RM10 million and free jet rides of OTK?

Timothy Teoh: I find it unbelievable for Tiong to donate RM10 million in cash over three instalments. How many briefcases needed for such amount? Can Tiong prove with receipt the amount that he has withdrawn?

Fomca: For their safety (Ong and Tiong), I propose that they be detained under ISA. (It was done last time for Teresa Kok). I believe that this is only the tip of the iceberg. The whole cabinet should be audited. What is the total cost incurred (for ministers) just to attend to emergencies in our country?

What was the urgent matter for OTK to fly? He says that he has yet to receive the bills. Even if he receives the bills, who is going to pay for these 'urgent matters'? The government? I hope that there is no suicide this time.

Wira: Where is the integrity expected of a minister? Why would he hitch a ride on a plane owned by a company which had a overriding interest in a scandal ridden PKFZ?

Ahmingchai: Is this a political bribe or what? Is MCA so broke that they need to get donations from a Sarawak component party? If Tiong is so rich, why don't he donate to the poor in Sarawak rather than to help those in Peninsular Malaysia?

Anak Malaysia Tercinta:
If TKS (Tiong King Sing) had given RM10 million as a donation to assist MCA - whose head is heading the PKFZ project, in which TKS's company is involved - do you call that a donation or a bribe or palm greasing? Ask a school kid ... he will tell you it's a bribe. Giving a bribe is an offence, so is receiving it. Where are you, MACC? Sorry, we are busy with PKR councillors and their assets.

Durianwool: Hmm ... how many qualified 'emergencies' does one have in two months? It will be very interesting for Mr Ong to reveal what they are and whether they can be qualified as such, since he knows very well that ministers are only allowed to use MH (MAS) and AK (AirAsia)... and others only in 'emergencies'.

In any case, a simple look at AK or MH's flight schedules will reveal that there are enough flights. If the MCA boss does not realise that the private jet flights can easily be construed as inappropriate, then one wonders if he really should be the representative that the rakyat should place their trust on.

Dr Jacob George: Once again, 'political expediency' takes centre stage than the need for accountability, good governance, transparency and having zero tolerance for corruption. Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin seems to be more 'preoccupied and concerned' over the public spat between Transport Minister Ong Tee Keat and Bintulu MP Tiong King Sing over the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) financial fiasco rather than the issue of corruption and the betrayal of the peoples' trust!

So DPM - since you asked the question - what is the image of the BN today? There is no necessity for a rocket scientist from Harvard or Oxford to answer, thanks to the manner those elected have continued to betray their mandate repeatedly.

Pemuda UMNO Dah Hilang Pertimbangan Sebagai Manusia Waras

” Taking the cue from deputy party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s recent remarks, Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin also called Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim a traitor to the Malays.

Lokman Adam making allegations against PAS and PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim over their efforts for greater unity with Malaysia's non-Muslim population.
He challenged the former deputy prime minister to sue all 750,000 members of Umno Youth whom he said supported Muhyiddin’s statement that Anwar was a traitor.”

Hanya tuduhan rambang. Tapi, Muhyiddin tak pula komen bila Dato Najib pernah berkata di Heritage Foundation di Washington DC:

” The United States has excellent access to Malaysian intelligence.”

Lokman Nor Adam pula dilaporkan berkata:

” PAS used to fight for Islam but now they have become liberal,” Umno Youth exco member Lokman Adam told the crowd.
The founding member of PKR also questioned why the Shah Alam Municipal Council (MBSA) now controlled by PR did not revoke the license for Carlsberg brewery to operate in the district.
“When PAS wanted to ban alcohol, they did not refer to the Quran or the Sunnah, but they referred the matter to DAP,” said Lokman.”

Aikk Lokman.
Takda pun komplen.

Sekarang ni komplen pulak. Ni la dia contoh manusia lidah bercabang. Dulu bukan main kutuk UMNO dan BN. Sekarang jilat balik.

UMNO ni hipokrit, munafik, talam dua muka, lidah bercabang, mengata dulang paku serpih, cakap tak serupa bikin.

Pemuda UMNO pula macam orang separuh tiang.

Pemuda PAS Selangor sedia maklum bahawa UMNO adalah penipu no wahid. Jadi, tak perlu nak ikut mereka.

'Police knew we were lawyers'

Police were well aware that some of those they were arresting were lawyers who were at the Brickfields police station to provide legal assistance to detainees, a Suhakam inquiry was told today.

Puspawati Rosman, 28, one of the five lawyers who were detained by the police, testified that she was not part of the May 7 candlelight vigil which resulted in her arrest, and that she and four of her colleagues had clearly identified themselves as lawyers.

According to her, she had announced herself as a lawyer “a number of times” and the police had acknowledged it.

“In fact, I had even introduced myself to DSP Jude Pereira the night before and he knew I was a lawyer,” she said, referring to the arrests that took place a day earlier outside the same police station.

Puspawati claimed that Pereira ignored the lawyers' request to see their clients on the grounds that those arrested had “waived their rights to receive legal assistance” by signing a form under Section 28A (8) of Criminal Procedure Code (CPC).

“But when we asked on what grounds the police had acted that way, he (Pereira) refused to answer and told me to 'go read your law (book)',” she said.

Later that night, Puspawati and the other lawyers tried to seek confirmation on whether their clients had indeed waived their rights.

“We asked them (the police) about the forms which they claimed our clients had signed to prove that they didn't want to see us, but we were not entertained. If they showed us the forms, we would have left the scene,” she said.

According to Puspawati, all the detainees had informed her by mobile phone that they did not sign any forms and that they insisted on legal assistance.

The three-day Suhakam inquiry which started yesterday is chaired by Muhammad Shafee Abdullah and two other commissioners, Michael Yeoh and Denison Jayasooria.

The five lawyers are Puspawati, Fadiah Nadwa Fikri, Murnie Hidayah Anuar, Ravinder Singh Dhalliwal and Syuhaini Safwan. They are represented at the inquiry by lawyer M Puravalen.

The five were arrested while attempting to provide legal aid to a group of individuals nabbed during a candlelight vigil in support of Bersih activist Wong Chin Huat, who was detained under the Sedition Act.

Not allowed to wear undergarments

Puspawati also said that she did not expect Brickfields police chief Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid - who was wearing a 'Head Hunter' T-shirt that night - would instruct his officers to arrest the lawyers.

“When he gave the warning to disperse, I had no idea that he was actually talking to us because he did not make any eye contact with us. I thought he was talking to the public,” she said.

Upon their arrests, they were all asked to sign a form admitting that they were involved in an illegal gathering, which they refused.

Subsequently, the female lawyers were sent to nearby Travers police station to spend the night.

“Before that, we were ordered to change our clothes to a lock-up uniform, where we were not even allowed to wear our undergarments,” lamented Puspawati, who further claimed that all the lawyers were also handcuffed before their statements were taken by the police.

Puspawati said the next day the five lawyers were brought back to Brickfield police station where they were released on police bail.

However, temperature at the inquiry rose a notch when police representative R Munusamy argued that the police need not give any reason to the lawyers if their clients were arrested under Section 28A (8) of CPC, which Puspawati agreed.

“But the lawyers and the clients still have the right to know what grounds the police needed to use such a provision,” she argued.

The purpose of the inquiry

The inquiry's term of reference is to determine whether the arrest and detention of five at the Brickfields police station contravened provisions of the federal constitution and other substantive and procedural criminal laws which guaranteed certain rights to an arrested person.

The panel will also look into whether there was justification or necessity to arrest the lawyers under Section 27 of the Police Act.

It will also determined if there was violations of human rights, and if so:
  • Which person or agency was responsible,
  • How did the violations occur,
  • What administrative directives and procedures or arrangements contributed to them; and
  • What measures should be recommended and taken to ensure that such violations do not recur.
The public inquiry, which is being held at the Suhakam inquiry room at Level 29, Menara Tun Razak in Kuala Lumpur, will resume tomorrow with four other lawyers to testify in the morning, to be followed by the police.

Between appearances and substance .!

If we believe in God then we would believe that God created us. And would God play games with us by creating us of different faiths so that we may kill one another?

Raja Petra Kamarudin

A friend once asked me whether I consider myself a Muslim. I asked him: first of all, what is your interpretation of Muslim? He then asked me what is my interpretation of Muslim. And I gave him my interpretation of Muslim: one who believes in God, the One God, and does what God commands, which is to serve mankind.

Then you are a Muslim, he said.

I know of people who set up Christmas trees every year and place presents below it and get drunk on Christmas Eve. They may even go to church once a year for Christmas Mass. But they believe that whites are superior to non-whites and the genocide of non-whites is no great tragedy to mankind.

These are not Christians.

I know of people who go to Mekah every time they face corruption charges so that they can pray in the ‘House of God’ for divine intervention in beating the corruption charge.

These are not Muslims.

I know of people who perform the pilgrimage to the holiest of temples every year and yet have scores of murders to their credit.

These are not Hindus.

I know of people who place altars and burn joss sticks every morning in their massage parlours that front for brothels.

These are not Buddhists.

To these people, they are ‘religious’ because they perform the rituals associated with whatever religion they believe in. But that is as far as their religion goes. Compassion and service to mankind is not at the top of their priority list. All their actions are guided by greed, lust, vanity, egoism, arrogance, and all those other anti-social attributes you can think of.

It is time Malaysians stopped ‘talking’ religion. Religion is not in the rituals you perform. Religion is not in the clothes you wear. Religion is what is in your heart.

Some Muslims suffer from a very serious fundamental problem. The problem is they do not follow the fundamentals of the religion. Islam is the religion of ‘there is no god but God’. See the small ‘g’ and capital ‘G’ in the two god words? It is spelt that way for a very good reason.

For that matter, many would argue that Islam is not even a religion. It is a way of life. You breathe Islam, so to speak. In other words, every beat of your heart ticking away ticks for Islam. You do not need rituals to prove you are a Muslim. The fact that you are breathing already means you are Muslim because when you breathe in and then out that breath translates to Islam.

If you do not grasp what I am saying then I can’t help you. It just means you look at things from a very superficial and on-the-surface perspective. You need to go deeper than that. You need to feel the pulse on your wrist and be able to say, “This is Islam.”

And that is what happens when religion, any religion, has been reduced to rituals, ceremonies and the manner you dress. You lose the essence of the religion. And this is when we start arguing about trivial issues while we allow the essence of the religion to pass unnoticed.

Does it matter what women wear, or how a man dresses, or whatever, when below those external coverings lurk maggots and worms eating away at our soul? I suppose this is a statement many religionists, Muslims included, would not be able to comprehend.

If we believe in God then we would believe that God created us. And would God play games with us by creating us of different faiths so that we may kill one another? All religions believe in the beginning of time and the end of time. And the Abrahamic faiths believe that we are all descendants of one man and one woman, the first two beings on earth.

Would this not then make us all brothers and sisters? And we may be brothers and sisters who follow different paths to the same destination but is this not God’s wish and something absolutely beyond our control?

Who are we to question God’s wisdom in making one brother/sister a Jew, another a Christian, yet another a Muslim, and others of the Hindu, Buddhist, etc., faiths? Do we know better what is God’s grand design? Dare we shun God’s wise decision by shunning those who do not follow that same path as us in arriving at the same destination?

Yes, this is certainly food for thought this Sunday morning in a prelude to the Muslim holy month of Ramadhan. God has said He knows better what He has planned for us. Maybe it is time to not question or dispute what this plan is because surely, if he is really God who is the Creator of us all, He would have been able to create all of us of one faith and avoid all these disputes and killings in His name.

Islam at Crossroads: Who's to Blame?
M. Rajaque Rahman

It has become almost fashionable for a Muslim to say 'Islam is in danger'. The religion whose literal meaning is peace is today seen as the root cause of terror and violence. The Muslim world cannot merely dismiss this as a fall-out of a grand conspiracy against Islam by people of other faiths. It has failed to present the real essence of Islam and remained a mute spectator to many atrocities against humanity committed in the name cleansing the world of infidels.

This diffidence to stand up for Islam is mainly due to lack of clarity among Muslims about what their religion truly stands for. The Muslim world is heavily weighed down by its own blinkered interpretation of what's permitted and forbidden in Islam. The most glaring misinterpretation that has led to a distortion of the very essence of Islam is its understanding of the expression 'La Ilaaha Illallaah', which is the first principle of Islam. Literally translated, it means 'there is no god but God'.

However, generations of Muslims have been taught to interpret it as 'there is no god but Allah'. Thanks to this limiting interpretation, Muslims are made to believe that there are many gods, but only Allah is the right one. This understanding totally distorts Islam's real message of tauhid (oneness of God).

A case in point is the recent statement of chairman of National Fatwa Council of Malaysia Abdul Shukor Husin while passing a fatwa against yoga. 'Many Muslims fail to understand that yoga's ultimate aim is to be one with a God of a different religion.' When one has affirmed to 'La Ilaaha Illallaah', how can a Muslim think of another 'God of a different religion'.

If a Muslim thinks there are different Gods for different religions, he is negating the essence of Islam and unwittingly subscribing to polytheist beliefs. 'La Ilaaha Illallaah' establishes beyond argument that there is only one God. However differently we may pray and by whatever name we may call, it goes to that one source. Further, the Quran clearly states that God can be invoked in different names. 'Glory be to God, beyond any associations. He is Allah, the Creator, the Evolver, the Bestower of Form. To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names.' [Al Hashr 59:22].

Despite the clear pointers in the Quran, orthodox mullahs still hold that calling God by any other name than Allah amounts to associating a partner with Him. The biggest casualty of this exclusivity of Allah has been the concept of jehad, prompting innocent Muslims to believe that fighting against 'infidels' who don't call God by Allah is an act worthy for the Quranic promise of heaven for jehad. This amounts to challenging Quran's command to invoke God by any names with a sense of reverence and beauty.

This myopic interpretation of the concept of tauhid has had a domino effect on other spheres of life. Take the case of recent fatwas forbidding yoga for Muslims on the ground that yoga will erode their faith in the religion.

As the Quran and Hadith have nothing specific that will make practice of yoga haram, the ulemas based the ruling on their own fear of supposedly 'Hindu' elements of yoga destroying the faith of a Muslim. The best way to allay their fear is to look at the Hindu philosophy on yoga and see how and where it contradicts the tenets of Islam.

Yoga simply means uniting with the Self. Maharishi Patanjali's Yoga Sutras starts by calling itself an enunciation in union. The asanas, the practice of which is the focal point of these fatwas, are just one way of attaining that union. Is striving for such a union with the Self against Islam? It cannot be. For, Prophet Mohammed has said, 'He who knows his own Self knows his Lord.' Anything done in pursuit of knowing the Lord will count as a meritorious act of following the Prophet.

The best explanation of why yoga is not just permissible, but also desirable for Muslims is to be found in the second sutra of the Yoga Sutras. 'Yogas Chitta Vritti Nirodhah.' It means yoga is stopping all the modulations of the mind. Ceasing all the outward activities of the mind and reposing in Allah is the ultimate goal of Islam. So doing yoga asanas as a means of attaining a thoughtless state will qualify as the highest form of ibadat (prayer). Hence contrary to the fatwas, yoga as a spiritual pursuit is very much permissible in Islam.

It's universally proven that yoga brings peace of mind, and on that count yoga is almost obligatory for Muslims. As Islam means peace, peace of mind is a prerequisite for one to be truly following Allah's only religion.

This leaves only one ground for orthodox mullahs to frown at yoga: that yoga stems from polytheist beliefs of Hinduism. But when yoga means union, how can it be linked to polytheist beliefs? In fact, yoga takes one away from polytheism and leads to Advaita, which is in perfect agreement with the doctrine of tauhid.

The time has come for ulemas to dispel this mistaken understanding of the real essence of Islam. Else history will accuse them of doing a great disservice to Islam and unwittingly leading innocent Muslims towards polytheism.

Nik Aziz liabiliti PAS? — Awang Selamat

— Mingguan Malaysia

Time to deliver, Mr Prime Minister - Tunku Abdul Aziz

The visit by Prime Minister Najib to Batu Caves a few days ago will not, I hope, be just a public relations exercise to gain some political mileage and win over the Indian poor who have long been left to their own devices, to fend for themselves as best they can, while the country as a whole has moved on.

Here is a great opportunity for Najib to give practical effect to the great humanitarian principles upon which the NEP, or to give it its full name, New Economic Policy, was conceived. These principles were based on empowering the poor irrespective of ethnicity, religion or political leanings, by giving them equal opportunities to participate in and enjoy the fruit of the country's development.

Somehow, somewhere along the way, successive governments have allowed the NEP to be applied for the exclusive benefit of the Bumiputera. Counted among them are thousands upon thousands of hanger-on Indians professing the Muslim faith who claim to be more Malay than the Malays. Ever the opportunists, and who am I to blame them, for seizing the biggest prize the country has to offer under Umno's 1-Malay policy.

They needed little encouragement to wriggle themselves adroitly through a constitutional loophole, and reap the benefit of a system that is totally immoral, unethical and indefensible on humanitarian grounds as currently implemented. It is in serious violation of the basic objective of narrowing the gap between the rich and the marginalised poor of our society, which was what the NEP was intended to do in the first place.

We have, overnight, created a new class of super rich "Malays" who will, mark my word, be the ultimate undoing Umno's, and Najib's legitimacy to govern. It is a pity that his deputy prime minister has been so blinded by his hatred of Anwar Ibrahim that he could not recognise who the real "traitors to the Malays" are. I would, if I were Najib, be wary of those surrounding him because there may well be a traitor or two lurking in his camp. One can't be too careful.

Those in a position to make a difference have all, by default, failed in their duty to address the plight of the poor. Sensible measures must be put in train by the Najib administration to ensure that the vicious cycle of poverty is put to rest, sooner rather than later. Instead of wasting his time scheming, plotting and devising plans bordering on the morally dishonest, and ethically unwholesome, to disrupt and topple the states lost to the Pakatan Rakyat based on the last general elections that even the government admitted were free and fair, he should make it his priority to get the economy back on track quickly. The economic performance under his stewardship will be a deciding factor in how long he remains on top of the pile, and not whether he retakes Selangor or Penang.

Najib has made all the right noises and, on paper at least, he appears sensitive to the long-standing issues of public concern. However, unless people see the results, born of concrete and positive actions quickly, his credibility will go out of the window, and the proverbial closet perceived to hide a multitude of sins will throw its doors wide open before an excited gaggle raised on a diet of regurgitated conspiracy theories long past their shelf life. Malaysians are a funny people; they want to see you put your money where your mouth is!

I myself will not touch the NEP with a long barge pole, but it is a personal preference. I do believe that if it is applied in the right spirit in accordance with its original purpose of eradicating poverty across the board, it can be an important tool for the greater good of our society.

Personally I have never played my Bumi card because it was never the intention that it was created for the professional group of people to which I belong. My sense of fair play would not allow me to take something that does not belong to me. The NEP belongs to the least educated, the marginalised, and the underclass. I can look after myself without assistance from the state, but millions of our people need temporary crutches before they can stand on their two feet unaided. And they are to be found all over this land of plenty.

So, Prime Minister, the time to act is now. Do not leave it too late because before you know it, the next general election will be upon you, and there is a saying I remember vaguely about the futility of crying over spilt milk. Show the poor that they can trust you even though your detractors think they don't trust you enough to buy a second hand Proton Saga from you. Well, I suppose you cannot please all the people all of the time. - MySinchew

'Blue Blitz' To Carry Anak Bangsa Malaysia Spirit Into Permatang Pasir...

A short rest after Manek Urai by-election, the Blue Blitz, once again has been called upon to biltz into Permatang Pasir, ferrying the Barisan Rakyat Bloggers armed with Anak Bangsa Malaysia spirit as opposed to the BN's 1Malaysia propaganda.
So much has been spent and said on their 1Malaysia propaganda but in reality, what we saw was further display of arrogance with blatant abuse of their machinery in the like of their police force, MSM, MACC and so forth.
The mysterious circumstances behind Teoh Beng Hock's passing, the racial stoking and active spinning of lies by Berita Mingguan and Utusan Malaysia and every manner which they can think of to hoodwink the people just trying to gain back the support of the people out of desperation. Their refusal to take actions against all these wrongdoings proved their involvement behind all these handiwork.
The ongoing inquest over Beng Hock's death has turned into a farce. Utusan Malaysia and Berita Mingguan remained unpunish for publishing seditious articles. The MACC selective witch hunt investigation over Pakatan Rakyat assemblymen while the PKRZ scandal seemed to stall somewhere.
All these actions seemed to be political motivated. No matter how fake or dirty they are, they remained ignorant or blatant of their actions as if we, the people are the brainless and gullible sort.

BN may feel that they may have gain ground with their MSM dutifully harping on racial slants. BN may have instigated some issues among Pakatan Rakyat with their trojan horses. They are just creating perception and it shall remains a perception in the eyes of the people. The truth behind all these smokescreens is to divert attention from their clueless state of how to remain in power the right way. Their actions have proven to be more self destructive. After saying all that, lets take a look at Permatang Pasir past election results. Permatang Pasir remained with PAS in 2004 when BN was given a 90% mandate. I would contribute that mandate as a mandate against Mahathir. Yet, Permatang Pasir like Permatang Pauh did not fall into BN's hand despite the large emotional voters swing. Based on this fact alone, I don't see how Permatang Pasir is going to fall into their hands.
Forget about The Kg Buah Pala issue. Everyone knows that it was the misdeed of the previous administration. Which Hindraf group was involve here, anyway? The chap who prostituted himself to set up a breakaway group or the guy who went into exile? If the Kg Buah Pala are stupid enough to get themselves gullible to their evil motives and start blaming Lim Guan Eng for non action, then I really feel sorry for them for being stupid and gullible. Where is the money that MIC promise? Why didn't they accept MIC offer? And where is MIC now? In situation like this, one has to be able to compromise.Lim Guan Eng did exactly that but it wasn't enough for the folks for reason only known to them. Maybe they were gullible to those outside influence. BN was having a field day stirring up this issue. The previous administration and their crony developer remained the main culprit behind this problem. Another issue we can expect them to bring up is the selling of beer issue in Selangor state. Another PAS asshole timed it perfectly with this by-election. Wasn't he the one who was involved in unity talk with Toyol right after the 12th GE? A non issue now after the initial brainless emotional huha.. However, we know Umno would try every possible dirty tricks to wrestle control over this seat. It's going to be a tough task. If they lose, they will eventually try to create a perception that they have manage to win back the Malay support as in Bukit Gantang and Manek Urai by-elections. I won't take their statistics at face value if I were you. Some of us would be there at ground zero to update all of you with the ongoing events. Please be patient as we have limited ground force. But we will try our best to bring you the best.

Kelihatan Ketua delegasi Dato’ Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Haji Hashim, Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri Perak, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Haji Harussani bin Haji Zakaria, Mufti Kerajaan Negeri Perak. (B) Mohd Osman bin Mohd Jailu, ADUN Changkat Jering, Y.B Jamaluddin bin Mohd Radzi ADUN Behrang.

Ketika majlis diadakan bersama pelajar di Kaherah, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Haji Harussani mempertahankan akta ISA dan perlu dikekalkan.

Terdapat beberapa maklumat lain yang tak perlu dinyatakan disini.
Tarikh : 5 Ogos - 11 Ogos 2009
Destinasi : Mesir, Syria, Jordan

Penderitaan keluarga tahanan terus menjadi bahan mainan kerajaan BN.

AKMAL KAMARUDIN
Ketua Penerangan Dewan Pemuda PAS Perak

Ajijoi ~ Hebat Mufti Perak ni. Sampai ke Mesir dia berkempen untuk Umno. Sebab apa?

Tapi tak payah la nak soal kat tepi tingkap bangunan tinggi lagi. Kot-kot ada yang 'tergelincir' lagi nanti.

PRK Permatang Pasir: UMNO Pasti Menang Besar?.

Surat Terbuka Kepada Presiden Pas, Naib Presiden Dan Bla...Bla... Lagi...!!!!

Datuk Seri,

Apabila angin ribut kuat di tengah laut, Datuk Seri tak terasa sejukkah ketika Datuk Seri sedang memancing jerung. Ketika badai melanda, Datuk Seri tak kecewakah apabila kail hanya lekat anak gelama tengkerong?

Tuan Guru Datuk Seri,

Maaf Datuk Seri, terlupa pula saya. Datuk Seri juga Pesuruhjaya kemudian jadi MB dulu. Di Kedah, Datuk Seri Azizan, Pesuruhjaya, kini MB juga.

Begitulah bla...bla...bla...

Kata ulama, inilah ‘hubbun dunya.’
Betulkah?

Datuk Seri, maafkan saya.

Bukan mustahil Datuk Seri.

Wallahu aklam. Maaf.

Malay unity and the art of war

What Malays must understand is that it is the Rakyat that are the masters, and NOT the leaders. If we understood that, we’d realize that competition between separate workable political coalitions is in the best interest of all Malaysians, including us.

Suflan Shamsuddin

Be it in the corridors of power or in coffee shops around Malaysia, the UMNO plot to deliver the ‘Malay Unity’ talks continues unabated. Success could take the shape of a formal merger, a loose forum, or something in between. A united political voice will protect the Malay hegemony and cripple Pakatan Rakyat.

UMNO won’t bother talking unity with PKR. It is too hostile. The tactic to undermine PKR is to neutralize the ‘head honcho’ and his cohorts. Succeed at that, and this house of cards will fall, reason the UMNO tacticians.

Between delivering ‘Malay Unity’, neutralizing the PKR leader, and promoting disharmony within Pakatan Rakyat, UMNO/BN reckons it has the perfect three-prong war strategy to win the next election. All without changing the way it governs. Game, Set and Match.

This article focuses solely on the first prong of this strategy. The others will be looked at separately.

PAS conservatives are tempted. UMNO offers the greatest ideological alignment. Nik Aziz and the Erdogans have helped repel advances. But politics is like business. With a change in the board or management, anything is possible. UMNO can bide its time.

UMNO tells the Malays that the agenda is to protect their interests. But is that right? Or is this just political gimmickry?

The Malay Unity agenda will invariably create a ‘fortress’ mentality. Why? Because it is premised on the notion of ‘Us’ (Malays) being under siege by ‘Them’ (non-Malays). UMNO’s policies, actions and rhetoric must point to the need to ‘raise the drawbridge, point the cannons, and make ready the archers’.

At the centre of this fortress will stand the knights who use Ketuanan Melayu and Islam to guard it at all cost. And the Malays just might be taken in, not least because many still accept the role of political leaders as overlords to whom unfettered loyalty is owed.

If a body believes that it is attacked, it will produce adrenaline to increase its energy, defences, and reflexes. But as that happens, the mind’s capacity to grow, develop, and mature is impaired. That’s simply a function of responding to a perceived crisis.

Communities and nations respond the same way. In World War II, the UK, the US, and others fought to defend against aggression. National growth and development was suspended until victory was secured.

This fortress mentality helps raise energy levels for aggression and defensiveness. If the Malays succumb, they will be leaving their destiny in the hands of their political leaders. And the development of core qualities that builds self-reliance, which is needed for their longer-term success, will be sacrificed. (See my Malaysia Today article entitled “The Malay Struggle and the Traitors” on a fuller description of these core qualities.)

If the Malay Unity agenda were promoted solely for UMNO’s political expedience, without there truly being a siege, then it would be a con job of the highest degree against the Malays. Because they will ultimately loose out. It will also be a betrayal of the trust that non-Malays have given much to collective nation building. This is a disastrous cocktail to brew.

What Malays must understand is that it is the Rakyat that are the masters, and NOT the leaders. If we understood that, we’d realize that competition between separate workable political coalitions is in the best interest of all Malaysians, including us. A one-party/coalition monopoly (which is what we would be left with if the Unity talks bring down Pakatan Rakyat) creates inefficiency, and allows for patronage, authoritarianism and racial extremism to go unchecked.

If elements within PAS remain adamant that they sit more comfortably with UMNO/BN, and others feel more comfortable with PKR/PR, then the best outcome would be for PAS to split along such lines. What emerges will be a stable two-party/coalition system. And believe it or not, every one gains from this outcome.

It takes honesty for UMNO to admit that their strategy to make short-term political gains greatly damages the nation. But my hunch tells me that this word remains unfashionable to those who wield the real influence from within.

Tiong: RM10m was donation for MCA activities!

Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd chief executive Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the RM10 million he offered to MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat was donation.

On Thursday, Tee Keat wanted Tiong to explain whether the RM10 million was loan, donation, or bribery.

Tiong told Sin Chew Daily on Friday that the money was donation for MCA's activity fund.

He said if things would develop into this situation, he would have insisted to issue a cheque instead of cash.

"I helped you. So I was willing to donate RM10 million and didn't ask for repayment. However, your party members said that I didn't give you the money and were trying to ruin the reputation of you and MCA. I feel this is very unfair.

"I've ended up nowhere. And now the bank is after me."

Tee Keat's second question: If it was donation, as the donor, Tiong should know where the money had gone.

Tiong replied, "I've given you the money. God knows whom you've given the money to? Now you ask me where the money has gone!"

"I've given you the money. God knows whom you've given the money to?"

Question 3: The fifth ride on the private jet was done on Tiong's invitation.

"Yes, I indeed invited you aboard the jet, because I saw that your flight was delayed, so I invited you, along with Datuk Wee Ka Siong.

"I admit I've previously given you the wrong message.

"From what I've learned from my subordinates, Ong's office knew that they had to pay the fuel charges."

Tiong said Ong Tee Keat had never mentioned any amount of assistance, and that the amount was proposed by him to Ong.

He said someone had requested him to offer assistance to Ong and MCA, as he had political influences and network, and could help revitalise MCA. As such, he agreed to unconditionally offer financial assistance to MCA.

"I'm a part of BN. If BN could keep East Malaysia but not West Malaysia, this would affect the entire BN, especially MCA. So I agreed to donate to MCA as activities fund."

Nevertheless, Tiong refused to disclose the identity of the person involved, whether he was a politician or from MCA.

Also a MP for Bintulu, Tiong said he was not really a "close friend" of Ong, but he respected Ong and never questioned him how he would handle the money, because he was MCA president.

Other than political parties, he often offered financial assistance to Chinese associations as well as non-governmental organisation, including sponsoring needy students to study overseas without asking for repayment.

He said when he promised to donate the money to MCA, he did not ask Ong for any project or to endorse him in the PKFZ project, as his company had already completed the works.

"If I was unhappy with him or the authorities for investigating the PKFZ incident, would I invite him to take the flight with me in April?"

He also said the MACC had contacted his deputy CEO to make arrangements to further understand the details.

Tiong said he welcomed the MACC to investigate the RM10 million donation: "We're willing to cooperate and assist."
